Serving families in Houston, Montrose.
I work with children, adolescents, and young adults who are having a hard time managing their emotions or putting into words what they’re feeling. A lot of the clients I work with may look like they’re doing okay on the outside, but internally they feel overwhelmed, anxious, shut down, or unsure of themselves. These struggles often show up at school and/or work, at home, or in relationships, and can be connected to things like family changes, academic pressure, or trying to navigate identity and cultural expectations.
One of the main things I focus on in therapy is helping clients feel understood and supported. Many kids and young adults don’t yet have the language for their emotions, so those feelings may come out as frustration, withdrawal, or silence. I take time to build trust and create a space that feels safe and non-judgmental, where clients don’t feel rushed to open up. I believe that when someone feels safe, real change becomes possible.
My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, meaning I focus on who the client is as a person, not just the problem they’re coming in with. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. When working with children, I use play-based and creative interventions to help them express themselves in ways that feel more natural and less intimidating. I support clients with anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and adjusting to life transitions. I also value collaboration with parents and caregivers when appropriate, while respecting the importance of trust and confidentiality in the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to help clients feel more confident, more in control of their emotions, and less alone in what they’re experiencing.

More About Me
Outside of my work as a therapist, I love spending time with my three dogs. They are a BIG part of my life and bring me a lot of comfort, joy, and balance. Whether it’s going for walks, relaxing at home, or just being around them, spending time with my dogs helps me slow down and stay present. I also have a deep love for animals and enjoy helping with dog rescue whenever I can. Being around animals reminds me of the importance of patience, connection, and compassion, and it’s one of the ways I recharge outside of work.
Testimonials
“This is a FANTASTIC practice with fantastic counselors. Ana Ramirez is especially great. She was a student of mine, is now working to get her masters, and is as good of a person and professional as you will ever meet. Can’t recommend Ana or the clinic highly enough!“
